Noodlez, “Hey Little Mama”: MCVA Hip Hop Award Winner

TasteTV and the MUSIC CALIFORNIA VIDEO AWARDS announced that Noodlez, “Hey Little Mama” is the Hip Hop Award Winner for the MUSIC CALIFORNIA VIDEO AWARDS .

For his own effort, “Hey Little Mamma,” he’s reached into his deep well of talent and presented a more relaxing jam, one that borders as much in the r&b and soul genres as it does in the world of hip-hop. Of course, when the song is in full effect, those details don’t matter. What matters is that this is a song that encourages the viewer to close their eyes and just soak in the laid back vibes being offered up. And much like Noodlez was first brought to us in a supporting role, he has also brought in his own guest emcee, Mawf Peece. Together, they keep the vibrant Bay Area scene going strong with a jam that shows the true power of collaboration.

San Francisco is known for many things, maybe none more than the beautiful landscapes and scenery that seems to exist around every corner. In the new video for “Hey Little Mamma” Noodles takes his special lady on an unforgettable journey around the sites of the Bay Area. Strolling along the Embarcadero, catching the Coit Tower in the distance, and the sweeping beauty of the Marin Headlands all paint a perfect picture for Noodlez to show girl a lovely day on the town. And while Noodlez is engrossed in his moment, Mawf Peece holds down the fort (literally) with his own set of perfectly crafted melodies, delivered from an equally stunning set of locations, including the shores of the legendary Fort Point, underneath the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. Teamwork makes the dream work!

The MUSIC CALIFORNIA VIDEO AWARDS show takes place in one of San Francisco’s unique music venues, Neck of the Woods, and is an amazing evening bringing together music videos, musician appearances, fans, and of course music video awards.

Maryama is proud to feature a multicultural and diverse group of musicians and tell a story of unity and peace. From underground music scene of Iran to big stages of Los Angeles, she has relied on music to show her power and influence as a woman and as an immigrant. You can hear this unique collection of stories in Maryama’s upcoming album “Where the Mermaids Are”(named after the single) which is mixed by 3 times Grammy Award winning Marc Urselli and Mastered by 3 times Grammy Award winning John Greenham.

Where The Mermaids Are” is a beautifully hypnotic track that seduces any of its listeners into a trance. The video is equally transformative with its impressive cinematic quality and show of artistic aptitude. Maryama can be seen drifting through a sea of purples, blues and reds while the worldly strums of a Setar and the enthralling quality of Maryama’s voice pulls you into a reverie. This video takes on the quality of the Sirens from Greek Mythology, and is equally as magnetic as the tale tells. The calming waters and the care-free attitude of the video’s dwellers will have its viewers heading to the beach at dawn to get lost in a million different sensations. The video is symbolic and a metaphor in itself which can take many different meanings depending on the listener. This gives the audience the power to be unique and have their own take on this sound visual world.

The Christopher Brothers, “The Girl Next Door”: MCVA Best Band or Group Award Winner

TasteTV and the MUSIC CALIFORNIA VIDEO AWARDS announced that The Christopher Brothers, “The Girl Next Door” is the Best Band or Group Award Winner for the MUSIC CALIFORNIA VIDEO AWARDS .

With over 420,000 Facebook fans under their belt, and a steadily growing fan base from all over the world, The Christopher Brothers are quickly breaking out of their mold of baby-faced rock and roll brothers and speeding towards full-fledged pop rock heartthrobs. Their chemistry comes naturally as siblings, but it is strongly reinforced by the countless stages they’ve shared over the years. The trio, Cameron, Charles, and Ethan, have built their brand the old fashioned way, through live performances all over the US and especially their home turf of southern California. In their new video for “The Girl Next Door” the band puts this flawless dynamic on full display with a fun and irreverent clip for audiences of all ages.

The band has hit the stage at venues such as the world famous Whisky a Go Go, The Roxy, LEGOLAND California, Six Flags Parks, shopping malls, and schools throughout the U.S., as well as opening for music legends Al Jarreau, Spyro Gyra and WAR at the Vancouver Wine & Jazz Festival. Their new full-length album, Dog Daze, exhibits their uncanny ability to blend an accessible pop sound with the urgency and conviction of alternative punk/rock attitude. All of this is rolled into one brilliant package in the MCVA award winning single for “The Girl Next Door” and the insanely infectious new music video.

Drawing wisely and effectively from the classic rock roll movies of the 60’s like Help!, A Hard Day’s Night, or Jailhouse Rock, “The Girl Next Door” is a fast-paced, black and white festival of fun. Inspired by true events in the boys’ lives, the video revolves around the new neighbor and the spell she has cast over them. They scramble and scheme for ways to get her attention, preparing a variety of pleasantries to leave on her stoop. Their ambitions pay off, seemingly, as the gift left on the doorstep have been taken. But have they been taken by the girl or by a rascal in their midst? A seemingly innocent rascal that fans of director Jared Sagal’s “The Young Ronaldo” video, that is…

Travis Marsh, “Don’t Call Me”: MCVA Best Love Song Award Winner

TasteTV and the MUSIC CALIFORNIA VIDEO AWARDS announced that Travis Marsh, “Don’t Call Me” is  the Best Love Song Award Winner for the MUSIC CALIFORNIA VIDEO AWARDS.

Travis Marsh comes from Southern California, but don’t mistake him for a Los Angeles native: the singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist grew up in the town of Camarillo, about 45 minutes north of the city. Camarillo is an agricultural area, and without the distractions of an urban environment, Marsh says “There really isn’t much to do besides lock yourself in a room and play music all day.”

In an interview with AXS.com, Marsh said, “I’ve always viewed songwriters as the therapists for the public. I think a great songwriter is someone that has mastered the art of tapping into our deepest inner emotions and memories. They can bring you back to moments in your life and then they become a part of you.”

He takes influences from bands like The Eagles, Pink Floyd, and the Avett Brothers; stellar songwriters like Bob Dylan and Ryan Adams; and the old troubadours like Jackson Browne and Joni Mitchell. It’s a melting pot of styles that doesn’t fit into a single genre box, but sun-bleached California pop mixed with a heavy dose of desert country-rock comes close.

Xavier Toscano, “Runaway”: MCVA EDM/Dance Award Winner

TasteTV and the MUSIC CALIFORNIA VIDEO AWARDS announced that Xavier Toscano, “Runaway” is the EDM/Dance Award Winner for the MUSIC CALIFORNIA VIDEO AWARDS .

His newest single “Runaway” finds the balance between contemporary and timeless. From a production perspective, Xavier delivers a song that throbs, bounces, and weaves as well as anything on the airwaves. At its core, it is a song that is built on a foundation of mesmerizing beats and rhythms while spreading an enticing melody over the top.

It’s not just in the studio that Xavier Toscano exhibits this kind of passion. He’s quickly becoming known in the Bay Area as an artist whose live show delivers an energy that can only come from a performer who wholeheartedly believes in every word, every hit, and every note. One challenge when making music videos is to find a way to capture the natural energy of an artist and translate it to the camera. In the Benjamin Jones-directed video for “Runaway,” Xavier carries the pop music torch and brings down the house with an electrifying performance.

Runaway” is a good bet to run away with the hearts and minds of viewers! A wild array of visuals combining live action and enhanced CGI footage takes Xavier from one man to a full compliment of pop star presence. Each verses features the camera on the inside of a square, each panel simultaneously featuring Xavier in his element, performing for an eager audience on the other side of the camera. Much like the energy of the song cannot be contained, Xavier explodes outside of the box for each chorus. The panels give way to a single Xavier dissolving into a blue and purple gradient like a cloud of stardust. The energy of this track is a bona fide banger that will connect with eyes and ears across the spectrum!

Austin David, “Find Me a New Way”: MCVA Cinematography Award Winner

TasteTV and the MUSIC CALIFORNIA VIDEO AWARDS announced that Austin David, “Find Me a New Way” is the Best Eye (Cinematography) Award Winner for the MUSIC CALIFORNIA VIDEO AWARDS.

“Find Me A New Way” is three minutes of pure California party music at its best, and it’s sure to establish Austin David as a performer to watch. We’d say that it isn’t too late in the year for a song like this, but the truth is, whenever “Find Me A New Way” is playing, the sun is shining.

Why are we so confident? It’s because “Find Me A New Way” has everything that makes modern California pop a commercial and creative force: an instantly-winning melody inspired by ‘80s and ‘90s classics, an inspirational lyric that doubles as a call to the dancefloor, a winning, impassioned, rhythmically compelling vocal performance by Austin David, and production that nods to – but is not defined by – EDM. This is a track that demands visual accompaniment, and director Chad Schollmeyer has paired it with a clip that underscores its strengths and amplifies its feel-good mood. Schollmeyer, like David, is a new face in California pop; also like David, he’s got the talent that’s bound to get him noticed. Nothing raw about that talent, either – these two artists arrive fully developed and ready to thrill the pop audience.

Just like the song, the video for “Find Me A New Way” emphasizes the liberating effect of transitions. In Schollmeyer’s clip, we never know exactly where we are: on a ranch?, near the beach?, at a villa on a Caribbean island? The scene changes happen seamlessly, just as Austin David’s on-camera quick-changes – manually assisted by a trio of female dancers – seem to defy limitations of time and space. One thing is always true, though: wherever Austin David and his friends go, the sun is always shining, and a party is right around the corner. Sometimes it’s the dancers who bring the celebration – one complete with streamers and confetti blown at the camera. More often, it’s Austin David himself, whose exuberance and joy fill every frame.
