In recognition of the increasing influence of non-English productions on entertainment and creativity, as well as reexamination of the use of the word “foreign” and what it connotes, the Awards Committee has voted to follow other major awards competitions and rename the awards categories using the term Foreign to “Non-English”

We believe this better reflects consumer tastes, audience demographics, and other global trends.

Going forward these awards are now:

• Best Non-English Language Music Video
• Best Non-English Language Film

The CALIFORNIA MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS celebrate some of the most exciting and creative California-influenced music, musicians and artists from around the World. They honor great work and that California connection!
