ARTISAN PERFUME AWARDS

An annual Juried Awards competition rewards the Top Artisan, Niche, and Custom Fragrances of the Year.

Products from across the country were entered into this competition and sent to a panel of judges located throughout North America, who reviewed and voted on which they consider to be the “Top Artisan Fragrances of the Year, ” as well as TASTY AWARDS Winners.

“House of Matriarch Ex Votos: I love this, especially the beeswax soliflore note and the waxy white florals. The scent is enticing, even from the vial. I could sniff this mesmerizing, uplifting and enchanting perfume all day.

April Aromatics Lost in Roses: This is a new rose. I want to be lost in this rose garden. The scent is ethereal, not overpowering as other rose scents can be. The fruit notes are unexpected and keep this scent fresh and interesting. This is a unique and modern rose.

Parfums Quartana Ierofante: What a creative composition Love the story that goes with it and the scent delivers the promise on ignition, liftoff and arrival. Ierofante is a complex olfactory journey that evolves endlessly, an exotic yet earthy fragrance tht makes you take notice.

Pomares Tar & Roses: One whiff and I was in the barrel room of a winery in Barolo, Italy, with an intoxicating mix of rose petal, cherry and raspberry and baking spice, blended with the oak barrel notes of cinnamon and roasted coffee bean. Tar & Roses starts off bold but mellows over time as wine does in the glass.

I love the thought and technique behind perfumer Rachel Binder’s fragrances. She makes and blends perfume like wine. I would love to see a longer finish on Angel’s Share and the sediment in it clogged the sprayer.

Providence Perfume Co. Magnolia Mist: Being from the American South and having grown up with magnolia trees in my yard, I love this buttery, creamy interpretation with fresh lemony and heady waxy white florals. I enjoyed how the fragrance reveals itself, like the petals slowly opening from bud to full blown magnificent flower.

April Aromatics – exceptional blend of floral and citrus notes that are uplifting not tiring the way some overt rose can be. A bit confected on dry down with raspberry jam and rose potpourri.

Parfums Quartana Lerofante – lighter, colder, loved the progression and the way this evolved during dry down, like it best at the very end.

Providence Perfume Co. Magnolia Mist – delicate white floral, seems more like a room scent I can picture the tree, very accurate image of the botanical in context, creamy waxy finish.

House of Matriarch Amanita – sandalwood almost animal, lifts as it dries to chewing tobacco, greener notes.”
