Montegrappa Pens releases Limited Edition Genio Creativo: Leonardo Da Vinci set
Italy-based luxury pen maker Montegrappa has released a new addition to its limited edition series, the Genio Creativo, and is based on Italian genius Leonardo Da Vinci.
The new set is intended to mark the 500 years since the loss of one of history’s most prolific minds, Leonardo da Vinci. For the design of this limited-edition release, they chose to celebrate both his artistic and scientific acumen.

Says Montegrappa, “From machines of war to telescopes, musical instruments and early robotics, Leonardo’s ambition and talent knew no boundaries. Left-handed, he was also an enigmatic writer, annotating his drawings with mirror script written right to left. The new Leonardo da Vinci edition writes conventionally, but celebrates the maestro’s technological prowess throughout its design and presentation.”
DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION
The new Leonardo Da Vinci edition is made of hand-finished brass, stainless steel and Tuscan olive wood, and the edition’s 500 piston-fed fountain pens and 500 rollerballs combine fine metal detailing with organic materials.
This combination of materials is done as an homage to Leonardo’s sense for the fluid relationship between nature, art and science. References to his achievements in geometry, astronomy, engineering and architecture are featured throughout the piece.
