Every year select members of the Academy of Media Tastemakers, specifically those who specialize in scents and perfumes, review a number of the year’s artisan creations to determine their top picks. See who’s on the list, and what you should try now!

ARTISAN PERFUME AWARDS

An annual Juried Awards competition rewards the Top Artisan, Niche, and Custom Fragrances of the Year.

Products from across the country were entered into this competition and sent to a panel of judges located throughout North America, who reviewed and voted on which they consider to be the “Top Artisan Fragrances of the Year, ” as well as TASTY AWARDS Winners.

In addition, the “Top Artisan Perfumer” award winners from this competition are given the title, “Official Fragrance Partner of the TASTE AWARDS.**” (** A different award group than the TASTY AWARDS)

2018 FRAGRANCE AWARDS: SELECTED JUDGES COMMENTS

Wild Child by Cognoscenti. The combination of notes and the story behind this scent is incredible. I could feel the dark and light with the floral crescendoing that gave an incredible depth to the presenting portrait of Dark Lovely in a bottle.

WOW! The competition was extremely difficult. I have been judging since 2011 and I may say the fragrances entered in this competition are absolutely incredible! It was so difficult to say which one was my personal favorite. I salute the perfumers in this competition because you truly have raised the bar for artisan fragrances in the niche market.

I loved Cognoscenti’s Wild Child. Very cool to have a scent inspired by a Botanical Portrait – like the symbiosis of this. So often we don’t have a visual of what is in the bottle Anise, sweet green tarragon note at top A complex yet subtle symphony of herbs, flowers cedar very intimate a paradox from the name not a wild crazy scent great interpretation of fresh herbs flowers and woods very soft on the skin But to me it just disappears too fast. My top scent: Adagio Assai by Esscentual Alchemy waxy creamy floral opens slowly some spice, herbal milky I really like this. There is a sweet smoky note coming out middle and base I love it even more as it develops.
Great job, Xyrena – dreamy soothing aroma, wonderful presentation. V’Tae Parfum – lovely scents, beautiful packaging–very engaging. En Voyage Perfumes, you’re my personal favorite; Amalfi Man is good for any woman!
My personal favorite is Esscentual Alchemy Adagio Assai. Want this for my collection!
