ARTISAN PERFUME AWARDS

An annual Juried Awards competition rewards the Top Artisan, Niche, and Custom Fragrances of the Year.

Products from across the country were entered into this competition and sent to a panel of judges located throughout North America, who reviewed and voted on which they consider to be the “Top Artisan Fragrances of the Year.” See the 2015 Award Winners here.

In addition, the three “Top Artisan Perfumer” award winners from this competition are given the title, “Official Fragrance Partner of the TASTE AWARDS.”

Amy Reiley is the founder of Life of Reiley, a boutique publishing house and creator of EatSomethingSexy.com. She was the second American to earn a Master’s Degree in Gastronomy from Le Cordon Bleu, focusing her dissertation on the relationship between food and sex in American pop culture. Reiley has appeared as an aphrodisiacs expert on television and radio programs from The Today Show to NPR’s Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me!

Chef Helen Roberts is the Culinary Development and Public Relations manager of Kikkoman Sales USA, Inc., and has been with the company for more than 33 years. She currently oversees Kikkoman’s Test Kitchen including the development and testing of a wide variety of on-trend Asian, American and international recipes for home cooks. Before moving into her current position, she spent 25 years in product development for Kikkoman. Growing up in an African-American home in Brooklyn, Roberts learned not only Southern-style home cooking and traditional American dishes but also a mix of ethnic cuisine such as Caribbean, Italian and Jewish. With her lively personality and easy-going approach to great home cooking, Roberts has made frequent television and Internet appearances. She was recently invited to the White House to participate in Michelle Obama’s “Chefs Move to Schools” program, which is part of the First Lady’s Let’sMove! campaign aimed at solving the childhood obesity epidemic. Roberts is partnering with other members of the International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP) to support the “Chefs Move to Schools” and Junior Leagues’ Kids in the Kitchen initiative. Roberts is a graduate of the California Culinary Academy and has studied at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. She also studied traditional Mexican culinary techniques at Seasons of my Heart cooking school in Oaxaca, Mexico. In 2014 Chef Helen was named President of the prestigious Les Dames D’Escoffier (LDEISF) and serves on the Board of Directors of IACP.

Joann Natalia Aquino is a traveling freelance journalist covering lifestyle including food and wine, arts and entertainment, indigenous arts, and the tattoo culture. She has written for Seattle P-I, Seattle Times NWSource, KOMO News, Citysearch, DailyCandy, Seattle Dining, Skin and Ink Magazine, Bellevue(d0t)com, International Examiner: Asian Pacific American Journal, New York-based New Filipina as the former executive editor, Filipino American Herald as the former editor-in-chief, and other publications. Joann is currently writing for national and international publications.

Mary Orlin is the WineFashionista, writing about wine, food and perfume. She is the James Beard Award and Emmy Award-winning Executive Producer of Orlin Media, where she is a multimedia wine TV and video producer and writer, telling stories behind the label. Mary is currently a producer on the new CBS TV Show Kristy Downing Rocks Local Food. She is a featured wine and perfume blogger on The Huffington Post and contributes to Edible Silicon Valley, where her regular column “Behind the Bottle” appears starting Spring 2014. Mary also writes for Napa Sonoma Magazine Palate Press, and Berkeleyside Nosh. Mary has also contributed to Uncorked and GEV (Gastronomique en Vogue). Most recently she was Executive Producer of NBC’s In Wine Country, wine country’s premier lifestyle show that airs nationally on the NBC Network. Production on the show ceased but the show continues to air in syndication on NBC, the longest running wine show on television.

Zahid Sardar is a design editor, writer and curator specializing in lifestyle including fragrance, food, wine and hospitality, architecture, interiors and design. His recent books include West Coast Modern and the next title, In & Out of Paris: Gardens of Secret Delights is due out in the fall.

Perfumer/owner at King’s Palace Perfumery, Dr. Marlen Elliot Harrison is also Creator and Editor of ThePerfumeCritic.com and the previous PerfumeCritic.com (2006-2010). Author of Basenotes.net’s ADDICTED column and contributor to Fragrantica.com, he also wrote for NowSmellThis blog, BeautyAddictMag, and The Washington Blade. Having lived in the USA, UK, Japan & Finland, Marlen currently resides in Florida. Previously, he spent 13 years in academia as a professor of English, Writing, Research and Communications and his work can be found in peer-reviewed publications ranging from Qualitative Research in Psychology to Language Learning in Higher Education. Marlen’s work in the perfume industry over the last twenty years has also earned him mentions at Forbes.com, Men’s Journal, NYTimes.com, and Men’s Health as well as invitations to speak at Sniffapalooza and the American Society of Perfumers.
