2nd Annual California MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS Finalists Announced

TasteTV and the CALIFORNIA MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS are pleased to announce Finalists in the 2nd Annual awards competition.

Arianna Grande: God is a Woman

When Arianna Grande wants to make a statement, she doesn’t have to try hard. Take for example her hit song, “God is a Woman.”

Aaron Orbit, “Agua Mala”: Music Video Viewers Choice Award Winner

TasteTV and the MUSIC CALIFORNIA VIDEO AWARDS announced that Aaron Orbit, “Agua Mala” is a Music Video Viewers Choice Award Winner for the MUSIC CALIFORNIA VIDEO AWARDS.

The new single for “Agua Mala,” which translates to “bad water,” reveals itself to be a highly personal song. The differences in the optimistic, uplifting choruses, and the minor, menacing verses is indicative of the central message of the song: being determined to make change for the better…just not right now.

The “Agua Mala” video revolves around Aaron traversing the last place on earth where one would want to find the “bad water”…the hot, humid, arid desert. Donned in a full suit, Aaron wanders aimlessly across the sand with the sun blazing down from above. Assorted shots mixed in include black and white cuts of Aaron immersed underwater and the propulsive beat being executed on a drum set. Much like the theme of the song, however, the video is primarily an abundance of beautiful, vast shots of Aaron making his way across a seemingly never-ending landscape in search of something that just may not exist…

Kaleigh, “Fading”: Music Video Viewers Choice Award Winner

TasteTV and the MUSIC CALIFORNIA VIDEO AWARDS announced that Kaleigh, “Fading” is  a Music Video Viewers Choice Award Winner for the MUSIC CALIFORNIA VIDEO AWARDS.

With her new single “Fading”, Kaleigh didn’t hold back any emotion whatsoever. An alternative pop track, the edgy lyrics complement fluid melodies and aggressive tonalities. The message is powerful and inspiring: cherish the ones you love, and don’t forget to tell them you love them. Kaleigh says, “Each day people get lost in the aggravation and turmoil of life and forget to cherish the people in their lives that love and support them most of all….[I] wrote this song as a reminder to people to stop and think about what kind of effect neglect or lack of emotional expression can have on a person you claim to love.”

Directed by Kenny Taylor, the “Fading” music video features Matt Cornett (Speechless; Nickelodeon’s Bella and the Bulldogs) as Kaleigh’s beau. Looking wistfully out the window, she recalls innocent memories from when they were younger, like playing a board game, and how things have faded as they’ve grown apart and become distant over the years. Will they manage to reconnect?

Noodlez, “Hey Little Mama”: MCVA Hip Hop Award Winner

TasteTV and the MUSIC CALIFORNIA VIDEO AWARDS announced that Noodlez, “Hey Little Mama” is the Hip Hop Award Winner for the MUSIC CALIFORNIA VIDEO AWARDS .

For his own effort, “Hey Little Mamma,” he’s reached into his deep well of talent and presented a more relaxing jam, one that borders as much in the r&b and soul genres as it does in the world of hip-hop. Of course, when the song is in full effect, those details don’t matter. What matters is that this is a song that encourages the viewer to close their eyes and just soak in the laid back vibes being offered up. And much like Noodlez was first brought to us in a supporting role, he has also brought in his own guest emcee, Mawf Peece. Together, they keep the vibrant Bay Area scene going strong with a jam that shows the true power of collaboration.

San Francisco is known for many things, maybe none more than the beautiful landscapes and scenery that seems to exist around every corner. In the new video for “Hey Little Mamma” Noodles takes his special lady on an unforgettable journey around the sites of the Bay Area. Strolling along the Embarcadero, catching the Coit Tower in the distance, and the sweeping beauty of the Marin Headlands all paint a perfect picture for Noodlez to show girl a lovely day on the town. And while Noodlez is engrossed in his moment, Mawf Peece holds down the fort (literally) with his own set of perfectly crafted melodies, delivered from an equally stunning set of locations, including the shores of the legendary Fort Point, underneath the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. Teamwork makes the dream work!

Maryama, “Where The Mermaids Are”: MCVA Coolest Visual Effects Award Winner

TasteTV and the MUSIC CALIFORNIA VIDEO AWARDS announced that Maryama, “Where The Mermaids Are” is the Coolest Visual Effects Award Winner for the USIC CALIFORNIA VIDEO AWARDS .

Maryama has performed in prestigious international music festivals such as the Fajr International Music Festival and the Monterey Jazz Festival(student). She has competed and placed in the Iranian International Youth Competition in the Music Composition category, where she places as a semi-finalist, and in the Music Association of California Community Colleges’ Composition Competition where she placed 2nd in the state of California. She has won a Jazz Downbeat Award with ARC Advanced Vocal Jazz Ensemble. Maryama is proud to feature a multicultural and diverse group of musicians and tell a story of unity and peace. From underground music scene of Iran to big stages of Los Angeles, she has relied on music to show her power and influence as a woman and as an immigrant. You can hear this unique collection of stories in Maryama’s upcoming album “Where the Mermaids Are”(named after the single) which is mixed by 3 times Grammy Award winning Marc Urselli and Mastered by 3 times Grammy Award winning John Greenham.

Where The Mermaids Are” is a beautifully hypnotic track that seduces any of its listeners into a trance. The video is equally transformative with its impressive cinematic quality and show of artistic aptitude. Maryama can be seen drifting through a sea of purples, blues and reds while the worldly strums of a Setar and the enthralling quality of Maryama’s voice pulls you into a reverie. This video takes on the quality of the Sirens from Greek Mythology, and is equally as magnetic as the tale tells. The calming waters and the care-free attitude of the video’s dwellers will have its viewers heading to the beach at dawn to get lost in a million different sensations. The video is symbolic and a metaphor in itself which can take many different meanings depending on the listener. This gives the audience the power to be unique and have their own take on this sound visual world.
